The Weslo Cadence G 5.9 is a basic, entry-level treadmill. It's much more affordable compared to other models. It's also much more compact and comes with simple foldability, allowing you to store it away when not in use. However, it does lack many features most people expect out of a modern treadmill.

Is the Weslo Cadence G 5.9 treadmill best for you?

The Weslo Cadence G 5.9 is about as basic of a treadmill as you can get. It comes with a space saver design to fold it on itself when you need to tuck it away. It comes loaded with 6 preset programs as well as speed and incline options. However, the incline can only be operated manually as opposed to having button controls.

The console consists of a blue-tinted LCD screen. It also comes with an integrated tablet holder, allowing you to read or watch TV as you exercise.

Consider Weslo Cadence G 5.9 if...

  • You're on a budget. This treadmill is among the most affordable. While other treadmills end up costing well over $1,000, this model tends to retail at a fraction of the price.
  • You need foldability. The Weslo Cadence G 5.9 treadmill is already fairly compact. However, it also folds in on itself so that you can roll it under the bed when you need to get it out of the way.
  • You don't need a bunch of extras. Modern treadmills really come with all the bells and whistles. But some people simply don't need Bluetooth or app compatibility. If you just need something to run on at home and not much else, this treadmill gets the job done.

Avoid Weslo Cadence G 5.9 if...

  • You need a larger track. This treadmill's running area only measures 16" x 50". Even most standard treadmills have tracks measuring at least 20" x 55". It may cause issues for taller individuals with longer strides.
  • You don't want to deal with manual inclines. Other treadmills, like the Schwinn 830, come with automatic incline controls. You simply press a button to alter the elevation. For the Cadence G 5.9, you have to manually adjust the incline.
  • You need a longer warranty. It's common for treadmills to offer lifetime warranties on at least the frame and motor. For this model, the motor's warranty lasts for less than 1 year.

Key Weslo Cadence G 5.9 Specs

Reasons to buy Weslo Cadence G 5.9?

  • You're a beginner fitness enthusiast. If you're just getting started on your fitness journey, then you may not need an advanced treadmill. When you want to add something simple to your home gym, this model may be precisely what you require.
  • You like having some workout options. This treadmill boasts 6 preset workouts. It's not a lot compared to other models, but it provides a decent level of variety so that you can change up your workouts from time to time.
  • You don't have a ton of space. For people who live in apartments or smaller houses, they may not have a ton of space to dedicate to a treadmill. Fortunately, this model is tiny compared to others. That means you should have an easier time finding a place for it within your home.

Reasons to avoid Weslo Cadence G 5.9?

  • You're heavier. This treadmill only supports weights of up to 250 pounds. This is due in part to the weaker motor. Other treadmills, such as those that come with a 3.0CHP motor, are capable of handling weights up to at least 300 pounds and beyond.
  • You'd like some extra amenities. This treadmill doesn't come with a water bottle holder, speakers, or an accessory tray. You need to upgrade if you want some extras that tend to be common with other machines.

What reviewers like

  • "Easy to put together. It took me 30 minutes."
  • "Yes, you can jog - it is not just for walking. It's well-sturdy enough for jogging."
  • "Does not take up too much space and is much sturdier and enduring than I thought it would be given it’s smaller size."
  • "It has a space for your phone or tablet."
  • "My husband has been doing a slow speed at 3 and then he speeds up to 7. I love this machine."

What reviewers dislike

  • "This machine- granted- has NO bells or whistles on this thing- effective but obviously cheap console."
  • "One thing to note: the manual instructs the user to unplug the treadmill between uses, as leaving it plugged in can damage the electrical components."
  • "The only flaw I have with this is the incline. The default incline of 0 is really on an incline and is not flat. It’s good to trick you and train you better."
  • "The main display is not backlit and hard to read."
  • "The calories burned estimates are way off compared to my Fitbit as it does not take into consideration your sex, weight, age, height etc."

Our verdict

The Weslo Cadence G 5.9 is an affordable treadmill for people who don't need much. The speed and incline settings, combined with 6 preset programs, give you enough to work with. It's great for people just starting to build their own personal home gym. It's not much of an investment. And after trying it out, you may soon realize you don't need some of the more expensive features.

This treadmill is pretty basic compared with other modern treadmills. It's also worth considering if you only plan on using a treadmill for a couple of years and then replacing it.
